Information & Safety Tips

  • Best Time to Swim: The calmest seas are usually during the dry season (October through April). Outside that, currents and weather can be less predictable.
  • Swimwear & Local Norms: Tourists are generally welcomed on the beaches. Swimwear or bikinis are acceptable, but modesty is appreciated in more remote local areas. Be respectful of local values.
  • What to Bring: Sunscreen, hat, plenty of water, goggles/snorkel gear if you want to explore underwater close to shore, towel, maybe water shoes for rocky sections.
